James Bourne, Cloudtech
Cloudtech technology journalist and writer James Bourne reports on the 2014 Future of Cloud Computing survey, produced by North Bridge Venture Partners. He notes that the transition phase is rapidly improving, citing the survey finding that aside from manufacturing, two thirds of respondents across all business apps will move some or most of their processing to the cloud in the next two years. Bourne highlights the contrast to comments made by CIO of Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, who stated recently that they have only moved non-critical applications to the cloud (such as HR). From the North Bridge research, Bourne concludes that cloud adoption has now gone a lot further than companies “getting their heads around cloud as a concept,” as was reported in 2012 by Cloudtech.
